The inaugural dialogue of the series is dedicated to the Revised 1974 Recommendation Concerning Education for International understanding, Cooperation and Peace and Education Relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
The recently revised 1974 UNESCO Recommendation is a landmark document, being the only international legal instrument that articulates education's role in building peace, international understanding, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. In the webinar, we will introduce this revised Recommendation and explore its potential to guide education systems in promoting peace and sustainable development. A panel of esteemed experts will discuss the revised Recommendation and explore questions such as: What renders the revised 1974 Recommendation a crucial instrument in educational policy? What impacts on education practices can emerge from the new Recommendation? And how can it be effectively leveraged to promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the decades ahead?
