Inhalt: The conservation of species and ecosystems to support both the proper functioning of Ecosystems and the provisioning of natural resources to humans is a major sustainability challenge. This course provides an introduction to conservation science and its importance to sustainability. The main discussed topics will be: 1) conceptual foundations for Conservation Biology, 2) world biomes, 3) biodiversity hotspots, 4) Key drivers of conservation decline, 5) red list of threatened specie, 5) protected areas, 6) ecological restoration.
