Inhalt: Please note that the field exercises not only differ in dates, but also in their topics and the study locations. For some exercises you will have to stay overnight, and for some exercises you need a bicycle. This practical field exercise consists of learning how to assess diversity in the forest near the Ilmenau River (and university). We will evaluate if tree diversity is affected by distance to a river, a trail and a rail. Students will be divided into three groups, each responsible for investing one of these questions: Does the Ilmenau River affects tree diversity? Do trails affect tree diversity? Do rails affect tree diversity? Which of these factors affect tree diversity the most?
