Interactive Workshop „Who said ‚Climate Crisis‘?“

Climate and Justice

06. Jun

A dozen interested students took part in the Barcamp with Radha d'Souza on 7 June. In three working groups they discussed the climate crisis with the legal scholar Radha d'Souza.

After discussing the three areas of geophysics, climate as part of the Anthropocene and the climate policy instruments such as the Paris Agreement, Radha d'Souza surprised the invited students with her thesis that it is the corporations that are causing the climate crisis. The perception of companies as legal entities is not common, but this understanding has contributed to the climate crisis.

Radha d'Souza is the author of the book "What's Wrong with Rights?" (2018) and co-founder of the Court for Intergenerational Climate Crimes (CICC) with artist Jonas Staal. The student congress in the format of a BarCamp was part of the opening events of the new international Leuphana Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) in Culture and Society.
