Inhalt: This project seminar is an integral component of larger-scale endeavor this term: hosting acclaimed Canadian/Ojibway author, Drew Hayden Taylor, as writer-in-residence. Participants of this seminar will not only have the opportunity to perfect their spoken and written English-language skills, but also tap into their creative forms of expression. First, we will read and discuss the drama, In A World Created by A Drunken God before planning how it can be adapted and staged in conjunction the author’s stay. Additionally, participants will be involved in various aspects concerning performance, design, and promotion of this special event. Finally, all participants will have the unique opportunity to discuss and rehearse our interpretation of the drama with Drew Hayden Taylor personally.

Inhalt: Der computerbasierte Quick Placement Test (QPT) dauert ca. 20-30 Minuten und prüft Hör- und Leseverständnis sowie Grammatik- und Wortschatzkenntnisse. Inhalt: The primary objective of this seminar is to introduce students to intercultural communication in theory and practice. A further objective is to assist students in improving their intercultural communication skills as well as in increasing their cultural sensitivity and awareness. Potential topics include: perceptions and misunderstandings, value patterns, stereotypes, identity and gender, culture shock, verbal and nonverbal communication. In addition, we will examine intercultural issues in literature and film.

Englisch/FSZ: Short Fiction in the 21st Century (Seminar)

Inhalt: In this survey course, students will read and discuss a variety of short stories and short short stories by well-known male and female writers as well as up-and-coming authors. Students will gain practice analyzing the texts published after the year 2000 in terms of their literary, historical, and cultural significance. The seminar will take a deeper look at the short story collection, Fearless Warriors by Drew Hayden Taylor (Ojibway from the Curve Lake First Nations, Canada), who will serve as a writer-in-residence at Leuphana University of Lüneburg for a week this semester.

Inhalt: Niveau B2/C1 des Referenzrahmens für Sprachen (Europarat). Two thousand years of invasion, immigration and the infusion of foreign ideas have created the Britain we know today. The diverse history of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland has led to very different cultural traditions.
