Federal President Steinmeier speaks to students at the start of the semester
2021-04-19 At the start of the summer semester, Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier addressed the students in Germany. The speech was streamed live from the State Library in Berlin.
"You are sitting firmly on the staircase of life and career, wondering where it leads. Upwards? Or down?" This is how Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier describes the situation of students in the Covid 19 pandemic. In his speech, Steinmeier thanks university staff and students for their dedication and stamina in keeping the university running online. He summarises: "I suspect, however, that the most important realisation for most of you after a year of digital studying is this: how indispensable the university is as a place of encounter!"
