Entrepreneurship courses at Leuphana are top of the class

2022-05-31 Lüneburg/Hanover. An evaluation of data on entrepreneurship teaching now published by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) clearly shows the leading role of Leuphana University Lüneburg in Lower Saxony. Both in the overall ranking and in the categories "range of entrepreneurship teaching" and "entrepreneurship teaching diversity", Leuphana is in first place. The results come from the "Accompanying Research of the Entrepreneurship Transformation of the State of Lower Saxony" initiated by the Ministry.

For years, Leuphana has also been one of the most successful start-up universities in Germany and once again achieved a top 10 ranking among medium-sized universities in the most recent start-up radar of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany). "Our many years of effort to make start-up awareness and qualification a core part of our university life are once again paying off," says University President Sascha Spoun, pleased with the excellent ranking. In the coming years, the university will continue to strengthen its profile in the key areas of digital, cultural, social and sustainable entrepreneurship and expand the networking of researchers, students, start-up advisors and established companies.

Science Minister Björn Thümler sees spin-offs from universities and research institutions as a promising way to promote innovation, economic growth and secure jobs for the future. In order to examine how the promotion of start-ups and business foundations can be even more targeted, his ministry has commissioned Prof. Dr. Reza Asghari with the corresponding accompanying research in 2021. Asghari is head of the Entrepreneurship Hub based at the TU Braunschweig and the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences.
