Social work degree for educators offers new career options

2022-06-10 Lüneburg. Educators can qualify for the fields of social work and social pedagogy with a part-time degree programme. The Professional School at Leuphana University Lüneburg offers this opportunity with its Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work. In October 2022, a new round of the highly demanded study programme will begin. Applications are open until 15 July.

The part-time Bachelor of Social Work introduces educators to the diverse professional fields of social work and social pedagogy in seven semesters and thus opens up new career perspectives for them. It also enables them to acquire state recognition as a social worker/social pedagogue. In the Bachelor's programme, participants deal with legal, educational, socio-medical, psychological and economic aspects of social work.

The programme is aimed at state-recognised educators with at least three years of professional experience. Two semesters of teacher training are credited towards the degree programme. Further professional experience or completed further training can also be recognised under certain conditions. By providing proof of training and professional experience, it is also possible to study without an ‘Abitur’.

Prospective students have the opportunity to learn more about the degree programme at the Professional School's digital information day on 1/2 July 2022. In addition, programme coordinator Kristin Eschrich (soza@leuphana.de, Fon 04131.677-7821) will be available to answer questions.
