DigiTaL@MIZ: Transfer in action

Get to know innovative digital media, methods and tools and use them in practice

2025-04-22 On 10 April 2025, the event ‘DigiTal@MIZ: Transfer in Action’ took place from 10:00 to 12:30 in the Experience Lab of the Media and Information Centre (MIZ). The aim of the format was to combine theoretical impulses from the DigiTal project with practical application examples. The focus was on interactive learning and experimentation formats that gave participants direct access to digital media and tools.

The event began with two short presentations in which key results of the project were presented. Examples were given of how the project's content can be integrated into the MIZ's media education practice.

Afterwards, the participants had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with and try out various digital technologies at five thematically different ‘taster stations’:

  1. Podcasting and video production
In the library's video studio, participants were able to work with professional equipment - including cameras, microphones and lighting - and gain their first insights into editing techniques and creative production processes.
  2. VR experiences
Interactive escape scenarios were brought to life with virtual reality goggles in the foyer of the MIZ. The station provided a low-threshold introduction to immersive learning environments.
  3. 360° simulations
Realistic job interviews could be simulated in a 360° environment in a specially equipped room. This format offered practical training situations in a protected environment.
  4. 3D design
Using the open source software Blender, participants were given initial access to working with 3D designs. The station provided insights into basic design processes and creative application options.
  5. Informal exchange
An open discussion station invited participants to chat informally over coffee and biscuits. Ideas on media design and the use of digital tools were discussed in a relaxed atmosphere.

The event followed the ‘Come & Go’ principle.Prior registration was not required. This open format allowed participants to explore various topics and test digital skills interactively in a self-determined, flexible way and without time pressure.
