Inhalt: In dieser Veranstaltung werden Bachelor-Arbeiten entworfen, vorbereitet, präsentiert und geschrieben. Inhaltlich geht es um privatrechtliche Fragen, die sich um die Regulierungsfunktion des Privatrechts drehen. Möglich ist etwa die Erstellung von Bachelorarbeiten u.a. aus folgenden Bereichen: Grundfragen des Privatrechts, Recht und Rechtsrealismus, Rechtsvergleichung, Ökonomische Analyse des Rechts, Verbraucherschutzrecht, Lauterkeitsrecht, Zivilprozessrecht, Internationales Privatrecht, Recht und Nachhaltigkeit usw. Das Seminar dient u.a. auch der Themenfindung und Konkretisierung der Themen, so dass sie dann in der Bachelorarbeit ausgeführt werden können.

Methods of Law and Politics (Seminar)

Inhalt: METHODS OF LAW (Halfmeier) The course offers an introduction to "law and society" research in the sense that it looks at the relationship between law and social and political phenomena. In particular, we will look at "impact" studies, based on two books: - Friedman: Impact. How Law Affects Behavior (2016), and - Lahav: In Praise of Litigation (2017). METHODS OF POLITICS (Burilkov) This course offers a straightforward introduction to the field of quantitative empirical research as practiced by political scientists. The seminar familiarizes students with analyzing public opinion data using statistical software to study political behavior and social change. The course is designed as a two-day workshop and involves a kick-off meeting at the beginning of the semester. In the kick-off meeting, students form groups and are assigned a topic that they will be working on during the workshop. In preparation for the workshop, participants are expected to familiarize themselves with the selected research area and be able to summarize the key arguments and main empirical findings. Based on the reviewed evidence, students formulate a descriptive, comparative, and relationship-based research question, which they seek to answer during the workshop. During the workshop, students are trained in using "R" to perform statistical analyses to answer specific research questions. The structure of the course follows the step-by-step data analysis guide, which outlines the specific requirements of the final research paper/ empirical analysis. After the workshop, students summarize and interpret the results of their empirical analysis and submit a final research paper at the end of the semester. Students will have access to "R" during the whole semester.
