As part of the BA seminar “Vilém Flusser and the Technical Image” (taught this semester by Dr. Daniel Irrgang in the "Media Aesthetics" module), we will welcome Dr. Paolo Patelli for an online talk and screening of his short film “Saaret” (2023/24). The researcher, architect and artist Paolo Patelli is a post-doctoral candidate at Aarhus University, where he conducts research with Jussi Parikka, among others, as part of the “Design and Aesthetics for Environmental Data” research project. The video essay “Saaret”, whose title can be translated as “island”, moves between post-humanism and Earth System Science (an interdisciplinary field of research working with a variety of technical and non-human sensors to investigate the progression of climate change) in its artistic and experimental analysis. After the screening of “Saaret”, Dr. Patelli will hold an artist talk online. Further information: paolopatelli.com, cc.au.dk/en/dafed
