Inter- y Transdisciplina en Acción, March 3rd and 4th 2016

Espacio Interdisciplinario of the Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Uruguay

More than 60 participants, coming from diverse backgrounds of social psychology, sociology, natural science etc. attended the seminar, presented by Ulli Vilsmaier and Bianca Vienni at the Espacio Interdisciplinario of the Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Uruguay.

The seminar aimed at:

  • Groups or projects that are still in a preliminary stage of interdisciplinary research. This workshop offers an opportunity to reflect on its framework of research, its plan and proposed methodologies.
  • Selecting knowledge of the methodologies and methods of inter- and transdisciplinary research (for example, Case-based Mutual Learning Sessions; Methods for Boundary Work; Interface Design).
  • Exchange, reflection and critical discussion of different views, visions and understandings of inter- and transdisciplinarity in Europe and Uruguay, South-American context.


In this context Ulli Vilsmaier and Esther Meyer presented cases of td Sustainability Science as one strand and perspective of transdisciplinarity taught at Leuphana University Luneburg and critically explored in the Complexity or Control project.
