Inhalt: Die Vorlesung steckt den inhaltlichen Rahmen des Moduls ab: Die Studierenden erhalten einen Überblick über das Semesterthema „Wissenschaft problematisiert“ und werden mit dem Kontext ausgestattet, in den sie die Inhalte ihres begleitenden Seminars einordnen können. Der inhaltliche Fokus liegt auf einer Reflexion von Grundbedingungen des gesellschaftlichen Zusammenlebens. Vor dieser Folie werden die beiden Schwerpunktbereiche des Moduls – „Wie denken Gesellschaften?“ und „Wie kommunizieren Gesellschaften?“ – überblicksmäßig behandelt. Dabei wird der Blick nicht nur auf die heutige Zeit, sondern immer auch auf den historischen Kontext gerichtet. Das ermöglicht es, Entwicklungen zu erkennen und zu beurteilen und somit Beobachtungen zu heutigen gesellschaftlichen Phänomenen entsprechend einzuordnen. Neben inhaltlichen Impulsen sollen dabei immer wieder auch Räume für Diskussionen mit und unter den Studierenden geschaffen werden, um ein vertieftes Nachdenken über diese Themen anzuregen und gleichzeitig in einem geschützten Rahmen den Diskurs zu üben. Um diesem Anspruch gerecht zu werden, ist die Vorlesung als flipped classroom konzipiert. Ein grundlegender Teil der zu vermittelnden Inhalte wird über unseren Moodle-Kurs zur Verfügung gestellt, während die Präsenzzeit für weitere Konkretisierungen, den Austausch mit den Studierenden und die Diskussion von Fallbeispielen genutzt wird.

The art of coexistence. Why critique is important (Vorlesung)

Inhalt: The lecture defines the content framework of the module: The students receive an overview of "Problematising knowledge" and are equipped with the context in which they can place the contents of their seminar. The focus of the content is on a reflection of the basic conditions of social coexistence. Against this background, the two main areas of the module - "How do societies think?" and "How do societies communicate? - will be treated in an overview. In doing so, the view is not only directed to the present time, but always also to the historical context. This makes it possible to recognise and assess developments and thus to classify observations on today's social phenomena accordingly. In addition to content-related impulses, spaces for discussions with and among the students are to be created again and again in order to stimulate deeper reflection on these topics and, at the same time, to practice discourse in a protected setting. In order to meet this requirement, the lecture is designed as a flipped classroom. The basic content to be taught is thus made available via our Moodle course, while the attendance time is used for further input, exchange with the students and discussion of concrete applications of the theoretical knowledge. In addition, we will welcome representatives of the five faculties as guests in the lecture, who will complement our module content with their own disciplinary perspectives.

Inhalt: The skills required to pursue a degree in the Studium Individuale are, of course, likely to vary considerably according to the individual path taken. But there are shared approaches underlying these differences which are fundamental to the particular challenges of this program: 1) Asking good questions. 2) Knowing how to approach answering them. 3) Having a sound general academic literacy and the ability to interpret diverse subjects. 4) The ability to develop independence and deal resiliently and productively with difficulty, uncertainty and unfamiliarity. This course asks you to be active, engaged, reflective, self-reliant. And it provides you with the tools and support with which to pursue an ambitious project across the semester. The vital skills we want to begin to develop are “knowing how to know” and fostering a continually reflective outlook within the pursuit of self-directed learning. We also want to instil the basis of skills which can then be honed and developed through practical application and ongoing experiment, within this course and ultimately beyond it. If we assume that – as your degrees unfold – your questions are likely to imply complicated and connected methodological approaches, then what you need to develop is a roadmap for navigating diverse approaches and their intersections.

Inhalt: Promovierende des Forschungskollegs für Philosophie, Literatur und Geschichte präsentieren ihre Projekte und erläutern sie in der folgenden Diskussion mit den Teilnehmenden des Kollegs. Darüber hinaus diskutiert das Kolleg relevante Forschungsliteratur und richtet Workshops mit geladenen Gästen aus.
