Concept
HyperImage offers new, innovative ways of compiling, processing, publishing, archiving, and reusing bodies of images in an entirely collaborative manner. Currently, there are still many obstacles in working with bodies of images as far as cooperation, networking and copyright are concerned. The aim of the project is to enhance working on, in and with image-oriented e-science networks: This applies both to the form in which the respective scientific community works and the novel form of linked and indexed image networks.
HyperImage falls below and exceeds the border of the image in that, on the one hand, an arbitrary number of details can be precisely marked and described within an image, and on the other, annotations of the corpus can be manually or automatically linked and accessed via indexes. The working environment is Web-based and can be freely configured in regard to access rights. Interim results and final versions can be created at any time hypermedia online or offline publications.
