Registration

Participation in the general university sports (Hochschulsport) programmes requires registration via our website or in person at Studio 21. As a student, you pay the first mentioned, reduced amount. If no fee is specified, the offer is free of charge. Payment is to be made by direct debit when registering online, or in cash at the office. The current schedule of fees and terms of use applies.

Accident Insurance

Enrolled students (with the exception of guest students and senior students) are in principle covered by statutory accident insurance with the Landesunfallkasse Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony State Accident Insurance Fund) for all programmes of the general university sports for which the university is responsible and which are led by an exercise instructor. Free training in the fitness area as well as self-organized, free sports practice in sports facilities of the university are not covered by accident insurance. Whether participation in competitions is covered by statutory accident insurance must be checked separately in each individual case. Examples are the German University Championships or the adh (Allgemeiner Deutscher Hochschulsport) Cup. Additional insurance is strongly recommended for these offers and for courses held abroad.

One day user cards are only available in Studio 21, all other user cards can also be booked online. After that you are entitled to participate in any programmes and can register for the various offers. As a student you pay the first mentioned, reduced amount. If no fee is specified, the offer is free of charge.

Accident Insurance

Workers and employees of the university are covered by statutory accident insurance with the State Accident Insurance Fund at all official university sports events under the conditions listed below. Separate rules apply to civil servants; teaching assistants are not covered by statutory accident insurance.

The sports activity must be suitable to compensate for work-related and mental stress. It must be related to work in terms of time and duration to represent a compensation and has to take place with a certain regularity. The group of participants must be essentially limited to members of the university. Courses held only once over a short period of time (up to two weeks) and competitions are not covered.

Thus, there is no insurance coverage for non-tenured university employees for all sports trips and events of a competitive nature, such as soccer games against other universities or at the university sports festival, based on the organisation by general university sports. Participation in courses, for which no compensatory purpose in connection with occupational activities is apparent also automatically leads to individual case checks by the Landesunfallkasse Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony State Accident Insurance Fund) after the occurrence of a claim. Clearly insured is the regular participation in offers of fitness, health and prevention sports under the guidance of an exercise instructor.
