PhD Workshop „Contemporary Issues in Accounting, Auditing, Tax and Corporate Governance Research “

2023-06-16

On 16 June, the inter-university PhD workshop "Contemporary Issues in Accounting, Auditing, Tax and Corporate Governance Research" took place as an online conference.

This year it was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Patrick Velte, Chair of Business Administration, in particular Accounting, Auditing & Corporate Governance at Leuphana. For many years, the PhD Workshop has been held in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Marius Gros, Chair of Accounting and Controlling in Health Care at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Thomas Loy, Professor of Management Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Bremen, Prof. Dr. Martin Stawinoga, Chair of Management Accounting at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences and Prof. Dr. Inge Wulf, Chair of Business Administration, esp. Corporate Accounting at the Clausthal University of Technology.

This year there were four lectures by PhD students and subsequent discussions:

  • Niklas Bergmann, Leuphana University Lüneburg/Hamburg School of Business Administration, on "Heterogeneity in Family Firms Finance, Accounting & Tax Policies: Dimensions, Effects and Implications for Future Research"
  • Simon Birk, University of Bremen, on "Competition and Cost Behavior: Evidence from U.S. Airlines"
  • Matthies Hesse, University of Bremen, on "Short Sellers' Information Processing Ability Beyond the Sentiment"
  • Julia Heise, Hochschule Niederrhein, on "Lost in the Maze? Public Sector Accounting and Reporting. A Structured Literature Review".

For the lecturers and (prospective) doctoral students of the participating professorships, the PhD workshop was an ideal opportunity to exchange information on their current and planned research projects.

Prof. Velte thanks all participants for the stimulating discussions and looks forward to the next workshop next year.
