Business Administration, esp. Accounting, Auditing & Corporate Governance
The Professorship of Business Administration, esp. Accounting, Auditing & Corporate Governance directed by Prof. Dr. Patrick Velte focusses its research and teaching activities on corporate reporting, auditing as well as corporate management and monitoring from a sustainability-oriented perspective (environmental, social & governance). In the inter- and transdisciplinary management orientation of the professorship, there is a close interlocking between research, teaching and transfer in the aforementioned disciplines to link business administration and sustainability science. The professorship has incorporated the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), into its research and teaching concept.
Within the framework of research activities, current socially relevant issues are taken up in the science initiatives Management & Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Research. These are investigated using theoretical-conceptual and empirical-inductive research methods.
A special focus is on integrated reporting, sustainability and corporate governance reporting and its assurance, diversity reporting and regulatory measures to promote the cooperation between the corporate governance institutions in listed firms. The research results were published, among others, in the Journal of Accounting Literature, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Business Strategy and the Environment, European Management Journal, Business Research, Journal of Business Economics, Review of Managerial Science, Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung, Steuer und Wirtschaft or Journal of Environmental Policy and Law.

Prof. Dr. Velte is an associated member of the Institute of Management & Organization (IMO), the Center for Sustainable Management (CSM) and the Leuphana Law School.
Together with Prof Schaltegger, Prof Velte offers the "Sustainability Reporting & Accounting" certificate at the Professional School.

In addition, Prof. Velte is a member of the Examination Commission for Auditors at the Chamber of Auditors (WPK), a scientific member of the Main Expert Committee (HFA) of the Institute of Auditors in Germany (IDW), a member of the Sustainability Council of the Cooperative Association - Association of Regions, a member of the working group "Corporate Governance Reporting" of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V., Member of the advisory board, the topic identification commission and member of the sustainability advisory board of the NWB publishing house.
Furthermore, Prof. Velte is curator at the student consultancy Contact & Cooperation and at the Hanseatischen Börsenverein at Leuphana University Lueneburg.
