Civil Law

In the Civil Law department, the members of Leuphana Law School focus on teaching and research in the areas of international private commercial law, European and international private and corporate law, and comparative law. The fields of work also include transnational law and procedural and labour law.

Under the guiding principle of "law in context", the focus in research and teaching is on analysing and teaching private law with the help of interdisciplinary approaches. The representatives of the Civil Law department examine the role of private law within social transformation processes and in dealing with global challenges. Various professorships are dedicated to research on sustainable private law. The analysis of regulations designed to counter structural power imbalances is another focus.  The interplay of private law regulations at the national, European and international levels is always taken into account.
