Social Science Education

The Social Science Education research group at the Institute of Political Science (IPW) focuses its research, teaching and knowledge transfer on fundamental questions relating to future-oriented (teacher) education. The group’s work centres on the integration of didactics in the fields of politics, economics and society. The aim of the research group is to empower teachers and learners to participate in democratic society in a self- determined and responsible manner. The focus is therefore on questions concerning how teachers and learners address current social, (education) policy, economic, technological and environmental challenges, and how educational processes can support them in recognising, reflecting on and making use of opportunities for participation in politics, the economy and society.
