Vita

Julia Hufnagl is a postdoctoral researcher and head of a research group at the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Development at Leuphana University Lüneburg. Her research focuses on strengthening the health literacy of trainees by developing evidence-based teaching and learning concepts for future vocational school teachers. As project director, she oversees the academic design, coordination, and evaluation of the studies. Previously, she was a research assistant in business education and adult education at the University of Bamberg and Chemnitz University of Technology. Her doctoral dissertation at the University of Bamberg focused on sustainability in vocational education and training. Other key areas of her research include discrimination and intersectional educational disadvantage. She received the first prize from the Käthe and Ulrich Pleiß Foundation for her master’s thesis. She studied in Germany, Austria, and the United States and has held various academic positions in Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada. Her research has been funded to date by grants from the German Business Foundation, the German Bundestag, and the U.S. Congress, among others. She is actively committed to sustainability in teaching and gender equality in academia.
