Reactive transport modelling
What we do
The main topic of the Reactive Transport Modelling group is the simulation of pollutant distribution and behaviour in the environment. We develop and apply model for erosion and sediment transport, phosphorus export and pesticide export from hydrological catchment, lakes and reservoirs.
Based upon a simulation of water fluxes, we estimate the environmental behavior of substances (sorption, transformation) and their transport by water. For a simulation of hydrological catchments, we apply the model ZIN-AgriTra (3D), which is our own development. In particular, the model is able to estimate phosphorus export, erosion and sediment transport and the behavior of pesticides and their transformation products.
For a simulation of lakes and reservoirs, we have experience with the application of the models LAC (1D) and MOHID Water (3D). Especially erosion and deposition of lake sediments and the physical characteristics of water bodies can be simulated by these models.
