Research Report of the Centre for the Study of Democracy published

2022-05-13 Lüneburg. Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Müller-Rommel has now presented a research report of the Centre for the Study of Democracy (CSD). The institution was founded in June 2004 by a small group of political scientists at the Leuphana University Lüneburg who were actively engaged in democracy research. Over the past 17 years, the centre has grown steadily and become a nationally and internationally recognised research institute, hosting top-class doctoral students and many scholars from all over the world for longer and short-term research stays. Today, the centre consists of eight full-time professorships and almost twenty graduate and postgraduate researchers.

The report provides an overview of the Centre's diverse research activities for the period 2004 to 2021, documenting the overall mission as well as the research programme and research areas, presenting the publications and the large number of externally funded projects, listing the activities to promote young researchers and giving the names of scholars who have supported the Centre with their scientific contributions over the years. The report offers both a review of the past and an outlook on the future of democracy research around the world.
