Steijn Bakker

Steijn joined as a PhD candidate at Leuphana in December 2025. As a behavioral scientist, he is focussed on people’s (dis)engagement with climate change related (mis)information, aiming to disentangle decision-making regarding information selection processes (e.g. through self-identity and motivated reasoning). He has further interests in emotions that can facilitate and sustain pro-environmental behavior long-term (specifically through enjoyment and hedonic experiences), plant-based food consumption, and social dynamics.

More broadly, Steijn is engaged with designing behavioral interventions and experiments, and observing and analysing behavioral changes and data longitudinally, using mixed-methods approaches.
