Public law, in particular public commercial law
Prof. Dr. Jens Gerlach, Mag. rer. publ., conducts research and teaches in public law, with a particular focus on constitutional and administrative law as well as European law. A key emphasis of his research lies in public economic law, notably in the areas of procurement law and state aid law. Additionally, his work encompasses security law and other fields of special administrative law. In his teaching, Jens Gerlach primarily covers state organisational law, construction law, and local government law within the university’s examination preparation for the Master’s degree in Law. He also teaches the entirety of administrative law in the Bachelor’s degree programme, Major in Law. His strong commitment to didactics is particularly evident in his collaboration with the training journal JuS, through the regular publication of articles and case studies relevant to legal education, and in the decision-focused podcast NachJuStiert.
Decision Podcast in Public Law
Together with Prof. Dr. Bettina Stepanek (University of Bonn) and in cooperation with the training journal JuS, Prof. Dr. Jens Gerlach examines current, exam-relevant court decisions in public law. Clearly structured, contextually explained, and practically prepared for examination scenarios – ideal for exam preparation, yet also valuable for students in their early semesters.
