Schreibzentrum / Writing Center
The Schreibzentrum / Writing Center offers many different services to students and instructors concerning writing in German and English language and the writing processes, techniques and strategies. The individual language skills and cultural background of the writer will be taken into consideration. Our aim is – in cooperation with the Language Center – to advance a comprehensive, university-wide writing culture.
Academic writing is a core competency which you will need at university and at work, whereby the individual learning paths differ. The following offers support you in your writing projects or serve your interest in writing in general.
Consultations
Individual Our team supports you in developing your writing skills. We offer advice on writing in German, German as a foreign language and English.
We conduct our writing consultations online in accordance with data protection regulations. ➚ Schedule an appointment here for an online consultation with our writing tutors. Please note that the access to our booking system is only possible via VPN and the login with your Leuphana account.

Services
Drop-in Session: Peer writing tutors are working with you on a wide range of issues, for example finding a topic for a paper, developing a research question, integrating outside sources, and so on.
Writing Lab “German as a Foreign Language”: for students learning German as a second or foreign language. Mondays during the semester. Please register via myStudy.
Peer Tutor Training: For students who are interested in writing and reflection as well as for the ones that want to become part of our team.
Workshops: Here we teach strategies and methods for academic writing.
Other
Writing Events: The Long Night of Writing and the Writing Marathon are the highlights of our year. These events will help you to focus intensively on your assignments or Bachelor’s/Master’s thesis and to work without distractions.
Writing Resources: You will find materials, tips and links on academic writing on this site.
Reports: Here you find reports about current and past events of the Writing Center, helpful tips and tricks in interviews with Dagmar Knorr as well as reviews from students and tutors on writing consultations.
Doing a doctorate requires good management to be able to meet the variety of challenges that come your way when doing work in an academic context, researching, and writing.

➚ Individual writing consultations: Our team from the Schreibzentrum / Writing Center supports you in improving your academic writing skills. Academic writing skills are necessary for writing your doctoral thesis, either a monograph or paper-based dissertation. We offer consultations in English, German, and German as a foreign language. Please make an appointment via the Leuphana VPN and your Leuphana account here.
