In-Class Workshops

You may draw on our experience and expertise in writing pedagogy and schedule an in-class workshop for your course. We offer workshops, which can be tailored to your specific needs, on the topics listed below:

  • academic reading

  • academic writing

The issues of digital literacy and artificial intelligence intersect with these areas, so you can let us know whether and to what extent the workshop should also consider these topics. Detailed descriptions of the workshops we offer can be found below.

Each workshop lasts a maximum of 90 minutes (shorter sessions are possible). To make sure that there will be a close connection between your course and our contribution, we expect you to join us for the session.

In a preparatory meeting, we will discuss the focus of the workshop based on the design and content of your course as well as students' prior knowledge. This approach allows us to strike a proper balance between instructional input and practical activities.

To prepare a workshop, we need approximately 3 to 4 weeks after having received your initial request and discussed outcomes and instructional methods in a preparatory meeting.

Please contact us here! We are very much looking forward to hearing from you!

  • They will become familiar with different reading strategies and techniques.

  • They will experiment with various strategies and techniques and consider whether and how they could be added to their repertoire (optional).

  • They will continue to develop as strategic and mindful readers, improving their ability to adjust their reading strategies in response to different contexts (e.g. digital reading environments).

  • They will learn about the opportunities that AI tools offer for academic reading and weigh the advantages and potential disadvantages (optional).

Academic Writing

We offer in-class workshops on different dimensions of academic writing.

Finding a Topic and Developing a Research Question

Finding a Topic and Developing a Research Question

Students

  • are familiar with different strategies and techniques that can be used to generate and develop ideas
  • reflect on their approach during the initial phase in the writing process
  • test several tools used during this phase (optional)
