Vita

Amanda Jiménez Aceituno (Dr) is Managing Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development and Learning (ISDL) at Leuphana University Lüneburg. She also holds a position as researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University (Sweden).

Dr. Jiménez Aceituno obtained her PhD in the Interuniversitary Program on Environmental Education in the Social-Ecological Systems Laboratory at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). Previously, she graduated with honors in Environmental Sciences at this same university. Her PhD thesis, Analysis of communication, education and participation projects for biodiversity conservation: cases of study of Spain and Costa Rica built on ESD frameworks applied to biodiversity conservation. She conducted fielwork at the Costa Rican National Biodiversity Institute (INBio) and held a long-term internship at the University of Florida.

In 2015 Dr. Jiménez Aceituno started working at the Stockholm Resilience Centre as a Postdoctoral researcher in Sustainabilityb Transformations within the GRAID programme (Guidance for Resilience in the Anthropocene: Investments for Development). Currently her research focuses on understanding and fostering the transformational impact of sustainability initiatives. In collaboration with the Universidad de Almeria, she is working with a variety of actors in the drylands of South-East Spain to co-create pathways toward the Sustainable Development Goals in agricultural systems.
