The Argentine Republic has carried out an unprecedented process in the world in the struggle against impunity for crimes against humanity that took place in the country. After the historic "Trial of the Military Juntas" which condemned those most responsible on 9 December 1985, decades of impunity have followed. Thanks to the tenacity of human rights organisations, survivors, relatives and lawyers, the path to justice has been reopened at the local level and since 2006 to date there have been 278 sentences with 1070 people convicted in Argentina (according to the official statistics of the Public Prosecutor's Office updated on 9 June 2022). At present, criminal trials against the perpetrators of the crimes continue, thus consolidating a unique experience of
Memory, Truth and Justice that is proposed to be shared in the Lecture.

César Sivo is a prominent Argentinean Criminal Lawyer and Human Rights Defender, who has been a plaintiff on behalf of the victims for the last 20 years and whose work has led to the conviction of at least 200 perpetrators of crimes against humanity. He is also a lawyer in several cases of state crimes such as summary executions by police officers. Sivo is also a Professor of Criminal Law at the National University of Mar del Plata in the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina). His work has led him to visit various universities and participate in legal activism actions around the world, and he has collaborated with Equipo Nizkor (Belgium).
