Concordia University Irvine (CUI) aims to empower students through the liberal arts and professional studies for lives of learning, service and leadership. A U.S. News Top Tier Regional University, CUI offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and adult degree programmes in a picturesque Southern California location. The university is located on a 70-acre plateau overlooking Orange County, 50 miles south of Los Angeles, 80 miles north of San Diego and six miles inland from the Pacific Ocean.
Concordia’s undergraduate programme is distinctive among universities in California because of the university’s innovative and engaging Core Curriculum. The Core comprises classic liberal arts courses offered in small, innovative learning communities and taken together in linked pairs: biology with theology, mathematics with philosophy, and history with literature. In addition, CUI’s Lutheran heritage provides a Christian community that creates a thoughtful and caring environment for students.
The university offers 20 undergraduate majors and 50 specialisations, nine graduate programmes, four adult bachelor's degree completion programmes and three nursing programmes. It has a full-time faculty of 100 and a total enrolment of around 3,250 students, including about 1,400 undergraduates, 65% of whom live on campus.
