Abstract:
Automobiles are a complex and highly configurable product. To produce high volumes of such a product efficiently requires a high level of coordination and planning. Today’s Automotive Supply Chains are organized and planned by the Automotive Manufacturers. In this talk we will highlight the inbound logistics process and walk over the planning steps included in this domain. A special focus will be on the business information systems that support both planning and execution of the different process steps. Thereby, applications of operations research and data analytics within this process will be discussed to give an overview of useful applications in practice.
