Background

In recent years, increased efforts have been made both in Germany and abroad to integrate profession-related elements of the museum in the education of cultural scholars of various disciplines. The focus is on conveying curatorial knowledge in cooperation with museum institutions. However, these have exclusively been master’s study courses mainly dedicated to (postgraduate) training and advanced training of curators in the field of contemporary art. PriMus seeks to enable a connection between the doctoral phase and object research in the museum. The project combines gaining one’s doctorate with professional qualification equal to an internship and validates the innovative education model.
