Project: Language Network

The Language Network project is being implemented as a follow-up to the "Students Support Language Learning" (S3) project as part of teacher training programs in the field of German as a second language and heterogeneity at Leuphana University Lüneburg. In the Language Network project, the overarching goal of promoting language learning among schoolchildren is being implemented by students at school and extracurricular practice locations in service learning. The potential here lies in particular in the networking between different groups of actors, which creates added value for all involved. The project also focuses on the further expansion of the language specialist library, which is also a place of learning and development for continuing education (e.g., material analysis and creation with digital tools). The program is being expanded to include specific extensions for teaching at vocational schools.

The objectives of this project are:

  • Deepening and consolidating existing service learning structures
  • Strengthening networks among all stakeholders
  • Expanding the language library
  • Professionalization for digital language support/education: material creation and analysis for language support/education
  • Guided development of didactic materials by students
  • Establish a PraxisLAB project seminar in cooperation with vocational schools for master's students

Duration: October 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025

Trauma in the context of migration

Date: November 5, 2025

Time: 2:15–3:45 p.m. and 4:15–5:45 p.m.

Room: 40.530

Description:

According to UNHCR estimates, there are currently more than 59 million uprooted people worldwide who are seeking refuge in another country as refugees or living as internally displaced persons in their home country. They are affected by armed conflict, persecution, torture, and oppression. Half of them are children under the age of 18 (see UNHCR, 2014, p. 3).

Fear and despair due to their experiences and uncertain prospects characterize the situation of most refugees. The workshop will outline how trauma can manifest itself in young refugees in an educational context and conclude by looking at what traumatized refugees need in school in order to have positive (learning) experiences in the here and now.
