The project Language Network (NeWS) builds on the Students Support Language Learning (S3) project and continues its work within the teacher training programs in the fields of German as a second language and heterogeneity at Leuphana University Lüneburg. The project advances the central aim of promoting language learning among schoolchildren by involving students in school-based and extracurricular service learning settings. Its key potential lies in connecting different stakeholders, creating added value for everyone involved. Another focus is the continued expansion of the language specialist library, which serves as both a learning environment and a space for professional development (e.g., material analysis and creation with digital tools). The program is also being extended to include specific extensions for teaching in vocational schools.
The objectives of this project are:
- Deepening and consolidating existing service learning structures
- Strengthening networks among all stakeholders
- Expanding the language library
- Professionalization for digital language education, including the creation and analysis of materials
- Guiding students in the development of didactic materials
- Establishing a PraxisLAB project seminar for master’s students in cooperation with vocational schools
