Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School, Kent, England

Role: German language teaching assistant

Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School (TWGGS) is an academically selective school that specialises in music and English. Scholarship and academic rigour are at the core of the curriculum, as is instilling an enthusiasm for learning both inside and outside the classroom. Physics, chemistry and biology are taught as separate subjects; all students at Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9, when pupils are aged between 11 and 14) study three modern foreign languages; and subjects such as economics, psychology, sociology and politics are introduced at different stages. Co-operative arrangements in the Sixth Form with Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys and The Skinners’ School augment the curriculum.

In its inspection report of November 2011, the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills said: “The quality of education provided by Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School is outstanding. The head teacher and her senior staff have established a strong and positive ethos throughout the school that supports excellent attitudes to learning and promotes outstanding behaviour.”
