Rebeca Company Almagro

Rebeca Company ([kom'paɲ]) Almagro is a PhD student in Eng­lish Applied Lin­gu­is­tics at the In­sti­tu­te of Eng­lish Stu­dies. She is writing her thesis under a co-tutelle agreement with Universidad de Sevilla. She holds a first-class BA in English Studies and a MA in International Communication, Translation and Interpreting. She received a Fulbright grant for the 2017/18 academic year, which enabled her to work as a Spanish Lecturer at Gardner-Webb University. She has several years of experience teaching English and Spanish as L2s both in Europe and the US. Her dissertation focuses on the pragmatic and discourse performance of Spanish students of English for the Tourism Industry when engaged in a mediated service encounter. Her research interests include Second Language Acquisition, Pragmatics, Language Teaching Methodology, Discourse Analysis and Digital Communication.
