Algoma University

Algoma University is a small, undergraduate institution in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. The campus is situated at the heart of the Great Lakes, with St. Mary’s River running between Sault Ste. Marie and the USA.

Algoma U is a small university where you’ll get a big education. The university has a population of 1609 students and over 30 academic programs in a diverse range of fields. Algoma prides itself on offering an individualized and personalized education. Students also benefit from learning in a cross-cultural and diverse community.  The university's special mission is to to cultivate cross-cultural learning between Aboriginal communities and other groups.

Sault Ste. Marie, a “Naturally Gifted” city, runs parallel to St. Mary’s River, the connector to Lake Superior and Lake Huron. A popular tourism destination due to its proximity to the United States of America and the changing of the seasons, there’s always something to do in the Sault. With four distinct seasons, students can take part in hiking and biking, but also skiing and snowboarding. With access to Lake Superior and a true Canadian winter, Algoma U students have the opportunity to experience what it really means to be a Canadian! From lounging on a beach, to building a snowman, students can take full advantage of the changing seasons and temperatures by taking part in seasonal activities. Did you know the Sault Ste. Marie is home to Canada’s second largest winter carnival? Bon Soo is a winter extravaganza that happens down the street from the Algoma U campus and features music, great food, sleigh rides and bum slides, and even the popular polar bear swim!

Algoma University offers Housing for International Students in the Spirit Village Dormitory (Meal Plans not included): $5210 for September to April (including deposit)

University Health Insurance Plan: $204.00 per term (mandatory and not replaceable with another health insurance plan)
