Role: Language Assistant

Founded in 1837, Wellington School is a co-educational, day and boarding school set in a small town in England and surrounded by the beautiful Somerset countryside. The Prep School and Senior School welcome pupils from 3 - 11 and 11 - 18.

General Info

Full school year placements for student assistants are available from October through May (no more vacancies for October 2016 - May 2017).

Language assistants must commit to the full 8 month October - May placement.

Wellington School provides room and board to students for the complete time period at no cost.

Language assistants You are asked to apply for Erasmus+ grants for student internships abroad (which provide funding for a maximum of 4 months, see Eva Vosshagen at the International Office for further information). 

SPS1: No (the August timing for SPS 1 does not overlap with the placement time period)

Duties

You will support the language department as a foreign language teaching assistant five days a week. You will observe classes and work with small groups of students on your own. In addition you may support some supervision and activity duties within the boarding community.

Your letter of motivation should include what you expect of your time at Wellington School and, importantly, what skills or interests you have that you can contribute to the school. These do not have to be related to your position as a German Language Assistant.

The school will need to undertake a number of checks before you are able to start your placement, this will include a Criminal Records Bureau check (now Disclosure and Barring Service check). The DBS check must be completed in order to allow you to work with school children and requires a passport: www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check/overview

Costs

There is no participation fee. You are asked to apply for Erasmus+ grants for student internships abroad (which provide additional funding for a maximum of 4 months, please see Eva Vosshagen in the International Office for further information)

Room and board is provided free of charge in term time by Wellington School.

Accommodation

Language Assistants will stay in school accommodation on the Wellington School campus. The cost of accommodation and meals is covered by the Wellington School.
