Vita

Prof. Dr. Emer O’Sul­li­van is Pro­fes­sor of Eng­lish Li­te­ra­tu­re at the In­sti­tu­te of Eng­lish Stu­dies at Leu­pha­na Uni­ver­si­ty Lüne­burg. Her fiel­ds of in­te­rest are com­pa­ra­ti­ve li­te­ra­tu­re, trans­la­ti­on stu­dies, image stu­dies, child­ren's li­te­ra­tu­re and li­te­ra­tu­re in the class­room (in­ter­cul­tu­ral as­pects and child­ren's li­te­ra­tu­re in for­eign lan­gua­ge learning and teaching). She is the aut­hor, to­ge­ther with Diet­mar Rösler, of eight ge­nui­nely bi­lin­gu­al child­ren's books.

Employment and Positions

  • Since 2018: Member of the Board of Trus­tees of Leuphana University Lüneburg („Stiftungsrat“).
  • Since 2018: Dean of Studies for the Leuphana Semester and Complementary Studies.
  • Since 2017: Personal tutor for the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
  • Since 2004: Professor of English Literature at Leuphana University of Lüneburg.
  • 2001 - 2004: Associate Professor of German and comparative children`s literature at the Institute for Children's Literature Research at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt/M.
  • 2000 - 2001: Visiting Professor of German literature, media and didactics at Essen University.
  • 1990 - 1997: Assistant Professor of German and comparative children`s literature at the Institute for Children's Literature Research at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt/M.
  • 1985 - 1987: Researcher in a project at the Free University Berlin.
