Former Member of the German Bundestag Dirk-Ulrich Mende (SPD) visits constitutional law lecture at Leuphana Law School
On 27 May 2025, Leuphana Law School had the pleasure of welcoming former Member of the German Bundestag Dirk-Ulrich Mende (SPD) as a guest speaker in the lecture “State Organization” (Staatsorganisation) held by Professor Dr. Till Patrik Holterhus.
Mr. Mende, who served in the Bundestag from January 2023 until the end of the 20th legislative period, began the session with a talk in which he outlined his political career spanning the municipal, state, and federal level. He placed particular focus on his time in the national parliament, offering students first-hand insights into the organisation of parliamentary work, committee procedures, and the responsibilities of elected representatives.
The lecture continued with a dialogue between Mr. Mende and Professor Holterhus, followed by an open Q&A session with the students. The event allowed for a practice-oriented supplement to the theoretical study of constitutional law and facilitated direct exchange with an experienced political practitioner.
Leuphana Law School would like to thank Mr Mende for his visit and the stimulating conversation.
