Marten van der Kam

Mart has been a postdoctoral researcher in the PSBC lab based in Basel since 2023. His research explores how people, technologies, and policies interact in the energy transition. He studies how households adopt and use low-carbon technologies, and how consumer behaviour influences the effectiveness and fairness of energy policies. By combining theories and methods from environmental psychology with agent-based modelling of energy transitions, he develops tools to support transition policy design. His work focuses on topics such as co-adoption, energy use, household heterogeneity, and equitable transitions. He has broad experience working in interdisciplinary and international research teams.
