Prof. Braungart (l.) receives the honorary award from Dr. Christoph Lapp, Senior Vice President at J.M. Voith SE.

Prof. Michael Braungart received the award as the mastermind behind the "Cradle-to-Cradle" design concept, which he developed in the 1990s together with the US architect William McDonough. The principle describes the safe and potentially infinite circulation of materials and nutrients in biological or technical cycles. The aim is to develop products and processes that are not only less harmful to humans and nature, but useful and healthy.

The German Sustainability Award Design is awarded for products, systems and services whose design promotes sustainable transformation in a special way.
