Professor Kuhl to advise the German government on research data infrastructure issues

2023-05-25 Lüneburg/Berlin. Psychology professor Dr. Poldi Kuhl of Leuphana University Lüneburg has now been appointed to the Council for Social and Economic Data (RatSWD) by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The body has been advising the German federal government and the governments of the German states on issues of research data infrastructure for the empirical social, behavioral and economic sciences since 2004.

The RatSWD develops recommendations for securing and further improving data access and scientific data use and advises the Federal Ministry responsible for research and the state governments on the further development of the science-based data infrastructure.

The council is composed of ten empirically working scientists, whose appointment is based on an election. The council also includes ten representatives of data-producing institutions from administration and science.

2,661 scientists elected their representatives to the Council for Social and Economic Data. The election of the RatSWD was for the 8th appointment period (2023-2026). Professor Poldi Kuhl was nominated by the German Society for Psychology (DGPs) and was also supported for her election by the Society for Empirical Educational Research (GEBF).
