Leuphana University expands its range of part-time continuing education programmes: New certificate in Accounting & Finance for working professionals

2025-11-17 Lüneburg, 17 November 2025 – Leuphana University's Professional School is expanding its portfolio of part-time continuing education programmes with the new ‘Accounting & Finance’ certificate. The practical, part-time study programme is aimed at professionals in business, finance and corporate management who wish to deepen their expertise in accounting, financial management and international standards.

The certificate, which is offered as part of the part-time Bachelor's degree programme in Business Administration, provides in-depth knowledge in key areas of the modern financial world. With a scope of 35 credit points and a duration of two semesters, the programme is offered in a blended learning model – with face-to-face classes on weekends and comprehensive online modules.

The programme comprises seven modules, including accounting in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB) and IFRS, consolidated accounting, capital markets and portfolio management, corporate finance and corporate governance, as well as international finance and risk management. The final project allows students to apply what they have learned in a practical, realistic company valuation.

‘With the new certificate, we offer professionals the opportunity to strengthen their technical expertise in a key field of the future,’ says Prof. Dr. Henning Schröder, programme director of the B.A. Business Administration. ‘Our blended learning approach allows for a high degree of flexibility and combines high-quality university expertise with practical application.’

The certificate is suitable for various target groups, such as professionals with university entrance qualifications and commercial work experience, as well as individuals without university entrance qualifications who have completed three years of commercial training and have at least three years of relevant work experience, or students and graduates of the part-time Bachelor's programme in Business Administration.

A formal application is required to take the exams and earn credit points and the Diploma of Basic Studies (DBS). Participation without taking the exams is also possible (with a certificate of completion).

The next online information event will take place on 25 November 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Interested parties can apply until 31 January 2026. The first start date is planned for April 2026.
