On September 24, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. (online), please join us for a guest talk by Prof. Dr. Karl Wörle, organised by the Joachim Herz Doctoral School of Law and the GO-Chains Research Cluster - Sustainability Governance of Global Value Chains.

Meeting ID: 982 7701 2974
Passcode: 699803

About the Talk

Environmental harm and human rights abuses often go unchecked in global value chains. The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) is an ambitious attempt to close this governance gap. The Directive is currently being examined within the international and interdisciplinary research project “Fostering international civil society cooperation: the EU CS3D as a new entry point for a just transition” at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna, funded by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund.

In his guest lecture, Prof. Dr. Karl Wörle will provide insights into this ongoing research, focusing on the role of civil society organizations and Global North–South cooperation. He will analyze these “governance actors” under the CS3D from legal, economic, and political science perspectives.
