School geographers meet at Leuphana
2022-09-16 Public invited to attend lectures
Lüneburg. On 23 and 24 September 2022, the 6th North German School Geographers' Day will take place at Leuphana University Lüneburg. The guiding theme of the event is: "Green Deal - an opportunity for Europe?". Experts will introduce the issue in public lectures; the expert audience will then discuss practical teaching examples in working groups. On the second day of the event, several excursions will take place, e.g. to Hamburg and to the east of Lüneburg.
On the morning of 23 September, there will be four public lectures. Prof. Dr. Markus Quante from the Helmholtz Centre Geesthacht will deal with the topic: "Climate Engineering - Rescue or Risk? Prof. Dr. Daniel Klingenfeld from the Federal Environment Agency will speak on the main topic. Prof. Dr. Rolf Brendel from Leibniz University Hanover will discuss the "Lower Saxony Energy Transition with Wind, Sun and Hydrogen". Prof. Dr. Mojib Latif from the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel and President of the German Club of Rome Society will give the lecture "50 Years of the Club of Rome".
All geography teachers in Northern Germany are invited to the event. In working groups, educators and scientists will discuss, among other things, the Schools for Earth project, making food production visible and schools on the way to climate neutrality. Geographical excursions to the region round off the programme.
