Recognition and Exchange: Postdoc Appreciation Week (21 to 25 September)

2026-08-06 For the fifth time, Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) Germany is recognising the achievements of postdocs. Leuphana University of Lüneburg has been one of the participating universities since the event began and will once again be contributing to the programme in 2026 with multiple events.

Through their dedicated work, postdocs contribute to the university’s research and teaching activities. At the same time, they are building their own careers in academia by developing their own research profiles and getting involved in the academic community and academic self-governance. This phase requires a significant investment of time and personal commitment in order to succeed in this competitive environment. The PAW aims to highlight the efforts and achievements of postdocs, whilst also offering career-supporting activities: short and full-day online workshops on various aspects of academic work, as well as networking opportunities where postdocs can discuss the challenges they face and find guidance.

Leuphana University of Lüneburg supports postdocs throughout the year by offering specific workshops on career planning and preparation for academic appointments, leadership in academia and conflict management, drafting applications for external funding as well as research ethics. Postdocs can also make use of career counselling services. As part of the PAW, which takes place this year from 21 to 25 September, Leuphana University of Lüneburg is opening the following two events to participants from across Germany:

  • Black Box Berufung (Mon, 21 Sep 26, 12:00–14:00)
  • A Grant to Fund my own Position – how does that work? (Thu, 24 Sep 26, 10:00–12:00)

Further information and the full programme can be found on the PAW website: https://paw-germany.de/. Registration for the events is now open.

Members of Leuphana University of Lüneburg can register for Leuphana’s events via the intranet; external postdocs can register by emailing hannah.jacobmeyer@leuphana.de.
