The University is looking for a responsible, motivated and committed person to join the Social-Ecological Systems Institute from 1 October 2026 for a period of three years:
PhD position (m/f/d)
(salary group EG 13 TV-L, 65 %, for a limited period of 3 years)
Your tasks:
- Collection of acoustic data for the monitoring of birds and amphibians on the Malaysian Peninsula
- Analysis of the collected data, including acoustic indices and the identification of individual species
- Publication of the results in scientific journals
- Writing a dissertation based on the findings.
Your profile:
- Completed Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Ecology)
- Experience in collecting acoustic data for the monitoring of birds and amphibians (e.g., as part of a Master's thesis)
- Knowledge of various ecosystems on the Malaysian Peninsula, including durian plantations
- Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia is desirable to communicate with local stakeholders.
