Research Assistant (m/f/d) PostDoc
(salary group EG 13 TV-L, 75%, for a limited period of 4 years)
The position is based at the chair of Prof. Dr. Robert Mitchell (School of Culture and Society, Institute of History and Literary Cultures) and will primarily focus on responsibilities within the Institute of English Studies (School of Education).
Your tasks:
- Planning and teaching courses totaling 3 SWS per week in English literary studies at the Bachelor's and Master's level in teacher training programs (primary school, secondary school, vocational school) including conducting examinations and supervising Bachelor's and Master's theses
- Pursuing a post-doc project, e.g. with the aim of obtaining a habilitation
- Collaboration on research, development, and knowledge transfer projects in English literary studies (assistance with the preparation of grant applications, project coordination of ongoing projects, scholarly publications), particularly in the fields of Science and Literature, Literary Theory, AI and Literature, and/or Environmental Humanities
- Support for English literary studies and the Institute of English Studies, e.g., in the further development of the content of the degree programs, curriculum planning, and the recognition of academic achievements.
Your profile:
- Completed university degree in English Literature or Teacher Training (Master of Education or first state examination with English as a teaching subject) or in a related field
- Completed, relevant doctorate in English Literature
- Demonstratable knowledge of central approaches and debates of at least one of the following fields: Science and Literature, Literary Theory, AI and Literature, and/or Environmental Humanities
- Teaching and/or research experience in an English-speaking country preferred
- Experience as a university research assistant preferred
- University teaching experience in English Literature, preferably with experience in teacher training in English
- Experience in presenting research findings at international conferences
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- German speaking and writing abilities desired
- Ability to work both independently and within a team, with good time-management skills absolutely necessary;
- Experience with externally funded projects (application writing, project collaboration) desirable
- Academic publication track record
