With the Center for Cooperative Security (LCCS), Leuphana is establishing a place for interdisciplinary research on security issues. The LCCS combines the public affairs subjects of political science, law and economics but also incorporates related perspectives from psychology and sustainability sciences. Based on independent fundamental research and secondary analyses, the Center develops practical recommendations for action in politics, business, and society. As a space for research and debate, it connects researchers from Leuphana, Germany, and around the world with expert representatives from the field.

Administrative Director (m/f/d) 

(salary group EG 14 TV-L, 100%, fixed-term until June 30, 2031)

Your tasks:

  • Develop and implement the organizational structure and processes of the LCCS
  • Position the LCCS strategically in academia and society, and establish and maintain partnerships with institutions and experts in Germany and abroad
  • Manage administrative tasks, including budgeting and financial planning, and coordinate the preparation of follow-up funding applications
  • Participate in the strategic and scientific development of the LCCS, conduct own research and contribute to policy papers
  • Promote the visibility of the LCCS and its activities through public relations and outreach
  • Design and implement modern communication formats, both analog and digital
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of the LCCS, and ensure that it meets its strategic goals and objectives
  • Coordinate the call for scholarship applications with the Leuphana Graduate School
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the LCCS, and manage its directorate, advisory board, and staff, including administrative personnel and student assistants.

Your profile:

  • A master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as social or political sciences, economics, or a related field with a focus on security studies; with a Ph.D. preferred
  • Several years of experience in managing scientific projects and coordinating large-scale initiatives
  • Preferably a strong professional network in academia and practice, with a focus on security-related topics, and experience in collaborating with external stakeholders, including business leaders, policymakers, media representatives, and NGOs
  • Proficiency in using project management software and tools
  • Experience in organizing events, networking, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively, and a high degree of self-motivation, initiative, and adaptability
