Award for outstanding dissertations in law donated
2024-10-24 The new doctoral prize is awarded for excellent dissertations in the doctoral research groups at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. The prize recognises work that has been awarded the doctoral degree ‘Dr. iur.’ and the distinction ‘summa cum laude’ by the Faculty of Political Science. The doctoral theses should also be of particular social relevance.
The award, endowed with 10,000 euros, is sponsored by the law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen | Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater Partnerschaft mbB. “We are delighted to support the outstanding work at Leuphana Law School by sponsoring this prize,” explains Svenja Spranger, Head of People at GvW. “Research and studies at Leuphana Law School are characterised by their interdisciplinary, practice-oriented and socially relevant approach. This forward-looking approach with the university's strong sustainability profile is a very good fit for us as a law firm.”
The doctoral award plays an important role in recognising the research achievements of outstanding talents. “The Leuphana Law School is very pleased to have found an ideal partner in the traditional law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen for the promotion of excellent young legal scholars. The law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen is one of the top German law firms and is a particularly attractive employer for our Lüneburg graduates,” says Prof Dr Till Patrik Holterhus, Professor at the Faculty of Political Science, and adds: “The cooperation is to be further expanded in the coming years - also beyond the generous doctoral prize of the law firm.”
