Day of Teaching 2025: Exams – Cultures in Flux

2025-01-15 Are exams still relevant in their current form? What formats support student learning and development? How can the design of exams be modernised - also with regard to AI and digital trends? These and other questions are what we want to discuss with you at the upcoming Day of Teaching on 15 January 2025.

After a short welcome, the day will start with the keynote speech “Quo Vadis? Testing at universities in the age of artificial intelligence” by Prof. Dr. Marlit Annalena Lindner (IPN Kiel). The keynote highlights the profound impact of generative AI on exams and learning assessment in universities, and shows how the culture of exams can be transformed through new approaches for teachers and personalised learning support for students.

This will be followed by exciting talks on the small stage with professors and experts from Leuphana University Lüneburg, including Prof. Dr. Henrik von Wehrden, Prof. Dr. Brit Maren Block and Prof. Dr. Dana-Kristin Mah, who will highlight and discuss different current perspectives and approaches to the topic of exams.

The workshop “Portfolio as an accompanying and exam format (in teacher training) - Connection or Contradiction?” offers insights and analyses into working with e-portfolios as a reflection and exam format in teacher training.

Another highlight will be the Gallery Walk, where innovative ideas and projects related to teaching, exams and assessment will be presented at 16 information and trial stations. In addition, the day will offer space for informal exchange, short consultation channels and many opportunities for networking - a good chance to take away new impulses for your own teaching.

We look forward to seeing you there!
