Zsuzsa Bánk comes to Leuphana as Heinrich Heine guest lecturer
2023-06-20 Lüneburg. With Zsuzsa Bánk, once again one of the most important voices in contemporary literature is coming to Leuphana University Lüneburg as a guest lecturer. Her debut novel "The Swimmer" was awarded numerous prizes, followed by novels such as "The Bright Days" and "We'll Sleep Later", which became great successes. From June 30 to July 1, she will be the 15th Heinrich Heine Guest Lecturer at the University of Lüneburg.
On June 29, Zsuzsa Bánk will give a public lecture at 7 p.m. in Lecture Hall 3 at Leuphana. Among other things, it will be about her most recently published work "Dying in Summer." In the book, Zsuzsa Bánk deals with the loss of her father. She tells of parting and mourning, of what is lost and what can be saved, and she remembers the years they spent together with gratitude. Margarete von Schwarzkopf will moderate. Admission is free.
During the summer semester, students under the direction of Julian Osthues explored Bánk's work. In a two-day workshop, they now have the opportunity to exchange ideas with the author. This meeting of students and author is an integral part of the program. The Heinrich Heine Guest Lectureship 2023 is sponsored by the Sparda-Bank and the Lüneburg Landschaftsverband.

About the guest lectureship
The Heinrich Heine Guest Lectureship is a cooperative project of the Literaturbüro Lüneburg and Leuphana University Lüneburg. Every year, an author who is highly regarded in the literary world is invited to the Hanseatic city to give a public lecture and a compact seminar at the university. This is accompanied by a seminar in the summer semester in which the works of the guest lecturers are discussed. Leuphana students are thus given direct access to contemporary literature and gain insights into the authors' writing. Since 2009, Uwe Timm, Juli Zeh, Ingo Schulze, Feridun Zaimoglu, Ursula Krechel, Jenny Erpenbeck, Saša Stanišić, Abbas Khider, Antje Rávic Strubel, Peter Stamm, Helene Hegemann, John von Düffel, Ulrike Draesner and Gregor Sander have visited the university.
